FX markets were fairly flat in October, volatility was low and movements in some of the major pairs were muted, for example in EURUSD and USDJPY, as the market digested heightened levels of US political risk. However, the dollar managed to claw back some recent losses at the end of the month. GBP and SEK led the way lower, after monetary policy weighed on the Riksbank, and the pound ran into some key technical resistance at 1.6260 - now a medium-term high for GBPUSD. October may have marked the start of the dollar recovery.
